We finished the kitchen backsplash
We installed the tile in May, but finished everything up this past month. We grouted the tiles and installed the trim work. The grouting was a little bit more labor intensive then had planned, but it only took us few hours to finish up. It looks great and now the first thing you see when you walk in the house is our beautiful kitchen. Yay!
We replaced all the electrical outlets and switches in the kitchen
Sorry, I couldn't get a clear picture. :-( |
The old white outlets and switches (and some cream colored ones) stuck out like a sore thumb after we put the tile in. So out they went and in came new ones. We wanted to go with dark brown because we thought it would blend the best, but were unable to find a double rocker switch in brown, so we went with back. And after a much longer then expected time, a few cover changes, and a huge "what's that burning electrical smell" scare, we have lovely new outlets and switches that blend into the background.
We redid the "Rock" garden in the back yard
All the rocks were hauled to the back of the yard and lovely little pink flowers were planted in the giant box out back. It was a lot of work, but totally worth it. It's still going next year, but at least it's pretty this year.
We picked out the color for the upstairs bathroom
We have decided to got with Morning Fog from Sherwin Williams for the upstairs bathroom. I can't wait to start painting in there. But first we'll be scraping the ceiling, patching, and doing a lot of priming. But it will be worth it.
We ordered our vainity top for the upstairs bathroom
We ordered the double vanity top for the bathroom. We decided to not spent $750 on a Piedrafina surface, and instead went with the pure white vanity for $400. The picture above is not the color we ordered, but it's the only one they had online. It's simple and that's what we were looking for. We were told it will take about 28 days to have it made and shipped, so we'll be working on the rest of the bathroom while we wait for it. :-(
We picked up the sun room
We cleaned out the sun room and donated a bunch of things. It needs a little more work, but not much. It's just about ready for a coat of paint. It looks so nice out there right now. I can't wait to be able to sit out there and enjoy it (as soon as this triple digit weather passes).
So that's what we accomplished this past month. We finished up every one of our June goals. Even if the bathroom stuff was accomplished on the very last day of June, it still counts. I'm very proud of us. We have now started on the bathroom remodel, more about that later.
So what did you accomplish this past month? And what are your goals for this current month?
